Emancipation and Household Formation in Uruguay. Recent Changes

In this paper we make use of newly available data to test some hypothesis about the evolution of home leaving patterns in Uruguay. We compare data from the first Encuesta Nacional de Juventud (National Youth Survey) carried out in 1990 and the second wave of 2008, using survival analysis techniques. The evidence we present is in line with results obtained in other countries showing how the timing of emancipation has remained relatively stable in the context of significant changes in the timing of other TA events while the destinations after leaving home have change widely.
